INTERIORS

A Foundation in Design

Before painting became my main focus, I spent many years immersed in the world of interior design—sourcing rare fabrics, distinctive furniture, and specialty tile for homes throughout Malibu, Ojai, Santa Barbara, and the Santa Ynez Valley. Each project was an exploration of texture, color, and form—a modern take on minimalistic bohemian style that celebrated craftsmanship and individuality.

From reimagining entire Spanish-style homes inside and out, to building and transforming barns and ranches into warm, functional, and artful living spaces, I approached design as an art form in itself. I loved the process of finding the perfect balance between simplicity and warmth—layering earthy materials, handcrafted details, and natural tones to create spaces that felt lived-in, personal, and timeless.

As part of my brick-and-mortar store, Hüs Los Olivos, I not only sourced rare fabrics, artisan furniture, and specialty materials, but also represented fellow artists and sold their work to clients and collectors. Those years of curating interiors and artwork under one roof taught me the importance of harmony between space and art—an understanding that continues to guide my creative process today.

Though I am now semi-retired from full-time design work, I continue to draw from that foundation every time I step into the studio. My understanding of space, texture, and color—honed through years of working with interiors—deeply informs my paintings.

While my focus is primarily on art, I remain open to select interior projects that resonate with my aesthetic and values: thoughtful design, organic materials, and a sense of quiet beauty that endures over time.
